When The pump was turned on the molecules move out from the container. When the molecules move out from the container, the molecules on the inside of the balloon are bouncing the balloon expands because the molecules are pushing in only one direction.
What was happening at the molecular level?
The molecules bounce off of the inside surface of the balloon.

Class Notes:
Thermometer = Speedometer (the more something bumps into something it creates motion and heat). Heat causes expansion. Air molecules are always moving.
Gases: (all gases behave the same!)
Air, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Water, Carbon Dioxide, Helium, Methane, Propane**Gas molecules MOVE and are FAR apart. (the molecules and atoms DO NOT shrink)
