ACTIVITY 1 - Burning candle observations

What is burning? Show the chemical formula and an image of the structure.
It is burning gas from the candle wax, the wick is also made up of mainly hydrocarbon with oxygen also present (this allows the candle to burn slowly), once the candle is out of oxygen to burn the candle will go out. Within the bluer regions, hydrogen is being separated from the fuel and burned to form water vapor. The brighter, yellower part of the flame is the remaining carbon being oxidized to form carbon dioxide

Write the chemical reaction:
C25H52 + O2 → CO2 + H2O

Write the balanced chemical reaction:
C25H52 + 38 O2 → 25 CO2 + 26 H2O
